Skin cell turnover is the continuous, natural cycle whereby skin cells are produced, move to the outermost layer of the epidermis, die and are shed (desquamation) to reveal the healthy cells beneath. As we age, not only does the rate of this process slow down, but the natural ability of the skin to shed the dead cells is diminished, resulting in an accumulation of superficial cells on the surface of the skin. Glycolic Acid & Lactid Acid
Glycolic Acid and Lactic Acid are alpha hydroxy acids (AHA). They promote exfoliation of corneocytes - the outermost layer of skin cells in the epidermis - by breaking down the physical bonds between them. Exfoliation of these dead, superficial allows the newer, healthier cells beneath to shine through.
HydrActive bathes the skin in essential hydration, by helping to hold and retain moisture in the uppermost layers of the skin. It improves the skin's water holding capacity, helping to plump, soften and enhance radiance. Together with the rest of the formulation, it will neutralise the peeling process and rebalance the skin's pH level.
