Optimals

The blue-flowering flax or linseed plant yields an amber coloured oil that is abundant in essential fatty acids, vitamins and minerals, all of which help to nourish and moisturise your skin, keeping it hydrated. Linseed oil is naturally rich in vitamin E, a highly functional vitamin known to reduce the appearance of unwanted skin discolorations or blemishes. Also known as flaxseed oil, linseed oil is a much-loved ingredient in cosmetics, thanks to its soothing, softening and calming properties.  

The hardy redcurrant shrub thrives in colder climates like Sweden’s, yielding ruby red fruits that are often enjoyed as a refreshing cordial drink. The tangy fruits are a nutritional powerhouse, boasting high levels of minerals and vitamins A, B1, B2 and K and packed with vitamin C and carotenoids, both of which provide antioxidant benefits to the skin. Redcurrants’ high fruit acid content also makes them a wonderfully toning skin care ingredient.  

Sea buckthorn is a hardy, thorny bush that grows particularly well on the eastern Swedish coast and bears potent little orangey coloured berries with a smooth spherical shape. The berries have always been valued for their exceptionally high vitamin C content and have been cooked and consumed in Sweden for centuries. Today, sea buckthorn is still enjoyed in jams, syrups and fruit powders. In beauty, sea buckthorn’s high fatty acid and antioxidant content makes it a fantastically hydrating skincare ingredient.  

The silver birch tree is close to our Swedish hearts. Not only because the slender silvery trunks are characteristic of our Nordic landscape, but because it was one of the first natural ingredients that inspired us when we founded Oriflame, over 50 years ago. Back then, we were one of the first cosmetic companies inspired by natural ingredients and today, we continue to value silver birch’s properties. The birch sap water, leaf extract and bark extract are rich in vitamins, antioxidants, minerals, sugars and amino acids, making them excellent beauty ingredients.
